Why am I not here?
I woke up one morning to find birds chirping outside my balcony. For a city like Bangalore this is quite unusual and surprising! I am quite used to bird calls at school but bird calls in Bangalore is a completely different mystery, or is it? Actually it is quite simple. Due to the lock down no one is outside driving a vehicle. For a change Bangalore has attracted some birds (not counting pigeons). Speaking of birds, every day an enormous flock of pigeons gather around the swimming pool and enjoy life there. They drink to their heart's content and fly away, only to return a short while after and quench their thirst. I have been doing this really fun thing recently. I was gifted this clay whistle which makes the sound a normal whistle makes. However ,when you fill it with water, it sound like the chirping of birds. People turn their heads my way when I blow it in my balcony! The whistle is also really cool because it looks like a bird!
While I was folding the clothes I recalled my school excursion. We went to a place called the "Agastya Foundation."It is a non-profit organisation and education trust. Schools from outside come and visit the campus to learn things that not many many schools have the complete facilities for. One of the founders of the foundation had studied at my school a couple of years ago! We stayed there for three days and two nights, and we learnt quite a lot.
Agastya Foundation is located at the part where three states(Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu)meet. Their campus is about 172 acres in size and has a rich variety of flora and fauna which includes peacocks and an entire butterfly park. The place we stayed in is a guest house on their campus. The guest house had a unique style of architecture and so did a lot of other buildings on the campus. Over there, they also have a herbal garden that shaped like a human and it has herbs growing in the body parts. The interesting thing is that the herbs grow in the part of the body they help in. For example, there is a herb that helps in developing the brain, this herb is grown in the head region of the figure. There is a herb that is a remedy for knee pain, that herb is grown in the knee region of the garden that is shaped like a man!
Amazingness continues as we take the next step in learning in the sensorium. The sensorium is a building that is built to look like an anthill. Inside the sensorium, there are big replicas of the sense organs which show how they function. There is a model of an eye through which you can see everything upside down. This happens because our eye has a convex lens which makes the image inverse. Then the brain is the one that makes the image erect. There is also a model of the ear that shows the ear's internal structure. Over here we explored and learnt about Sense organs, especially the eye and the ear. We also saw the Biology lab where there were specimens of brains and intestines of several animals including a human's! Our journey continued as we visited the Chemistry lab which was loaded with peculiar and cool chemicals! Here we learnt by ourselves about Charles' law, Graham's law and Boyle's law through experiments and observations. We also saw a few extremely explosive experiments. We combined sodium with water and watched as it violently exploded. We also ignited ammonium dichromate and watched a brilliant but dangerous dance of orange shrapnel! It was a thrilling experience! Although I wish we could see a few experiments with uranium! (Of course not!)
